Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for summer kids/teen cooking classes in the area. I have searched but cannot find any. — No Name, Lewiston.
Answer: In addition to responses from readers, check out the Lots to Gardens’ Kids Cooking Club at the Lewiston Public Library. The free program meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays in the library’s Children’s Department. The club is for children ages 7 to 12 and each class is limited to eight participants. Jake at the library noted that this is a popular class and participants should sign up in advance.
To register, visit the library at 200 Lisbon St. or call the Children’s Department at 513-3133. If the list is full you can always ask to be put on the waiting list,
in case someone doesn’t show up or you may sign up for the next week.
Dear Sun Spots: Could you tell me who the Tupperware dealer is around Oxford County?
Also, for the people who are bothered with squirrels getting into
their bird feeders, get some wide Velcro and tack it around the feeder.
It sticks to their feet and animals don’t like it. — No Name, No Town.
Answer: Contact Dianna Thurlow in Poland at 312-0957, anytime. She has been selling Tupperware products for a little more than a year and will travel to your home.
Dear Sun Spots: Thank you for all your help. I’m looking for a chair
lift for our New Auburn Seniors. There’s about six or seven steps to
the hall at St. Louis Church. Some of our seniors are not able to climb
or go down the steps for fear of falling. It would have to be in good
condition, we’re willing to pay a fair price or of it’s a donation, we
will have a plaque in your name.
Thank you for your help. I may be reached at 783-0273. — Virginia Levasseur, New Auburn Seniors.
Dear Sun Spots: To all those Sun Spots readers who may be wondering if the couple who purchased a canopy at a garage sale on July 11 got the message, we did indeed. My husband reads the paper cover-to-cover every day! We purchased (at a great price I might add) a hexagon canopy and frame at Barbara Hardison’s Auburn garage sale, only to get home and later discover the frame was hexagon. The canopy, however, was just a gigantic 20 by 60 tarp.
Needless to say we were disappointed but hey, it was a garage sale and we chalked it up to the fact that our deal was not that great after all. Turns out, thanks to Barbara and Sun Spots, we were wrong.
We drove to her house and were greeted with a huge smile, lots of apologies and a big bear hug. She had been genuinely upset over the mistake and asked a friend, “How on earth am I ever going to find that couple?” Her friend suggested she try Sun Spots. A shot in the dark, she thought. Not so. She wrote, you printed, we answered.
A great ending to a fun story and just in time for, you guessed it, our own garage sale. However, we’ll be using it to keep cool, it’s not for sale. Thanks for a great deal after all, Barbara, and to you, Sun Spots, for the connection. I just love a happy ending, don’t you? — Steve and Martha Bania, Leeds.
