FRYEBURG – The Northern New England Home, Garden and Flower Show will fill seven major exhibit halls and occupy six acres with outside displays at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds the weekend of May 15-17.
More than 250 booths in the exhibit halls will showcase the newest energy-efficient products and services for the home and garden. Outdoor displays will include manufactured homes, power equipment, fencing, recreational sports equipment, commercial and specialized garden centers, landscape displays, crafters and artisans, Meet the Chefs cooking series and ongoing seminars.
“If it is information you are seeking, plants or veggie seedlings to purchase, great garden crafts or you just want a fun way to spend a spring weekend, this event should be high on your weekend schedule,” said show producer Karla Ficker.
Show attendees will find information on solar hot water heaters, geothermal and other innovative heating solutions, wind power and the next generation in insulation. They can listen to and talk with the experts at The Smart Home Owner Seminar series.
Lenders will be on hand to discuss new programs and tax credits available for first-time homeowners. Many of the energy-saving products available are eligible for a federal 30 percent tax credit.
Ten garden centers will sell a wide variety of perennials, annuals, vegetable seedlings, shrubs, trees, hardscape products and organics. Some returning speakers in the All Things Growing Garden Seminars Series are Amy LeBlanc, owner of Whitehill Farm, Wilton, and grower of heirloom tomatoes and herbs; Cyndy Tibbets of Hummingbird Farm; Beverly Hendricks of Deerwood Farms, Waterford; and Sue Sidwell of Old Stage Farm, Lovell. New to the speaking roster are representatives of Purely Organics and Atlantic Pest Control. New this year is an outside brick oven created by David Neufield, owner of NorthStar Stoneworks and Garden Design.
Now in its fifth year, Meet the Chefs, featuring an impressive list of chefs from Maine and New Hampshire, is an integral part of the Home, Garden and Flower Show. Other show highlights include artists and crafters, from photographers to glass artisans and live music.
The show runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 15; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 16; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17. General admission is $8, $6 for seniors (65+) and $4 for youths 6-16; children under 6 admitted free.
