LEWISTON – Sisters of Charity Health System announced the annual St. Marguerite d’Youville Employee Awards, which honor individuals who represent the organization’s core values of compassion, respect, excellence and stewardship.
This year’s honorees are Judy Signer for Stewardship, Jenny Cowie for Respect, Claudette Reny for Compassion, and Terry Morin for Excellence. The awards are named in honor of St. Marguerite d’Youville, the founder of the Grey Nuns, the religious order that first built St. Mary’s Hospital and the Marcotte Nursing Home. Since 1995, Sisters of Charity has recognized four employees each year, with an awards program for those who consistently support and live the organization’s values.
Signer is director of surgical services at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She oversees the operating room, central sterile, anesthesia, day surgery, and the post anesthesia care unit. Cowie is the executive secretary at d’Youville Pavilion Long-Term Care Facility.
Reny is a technician aide in radiology.
Morin is a unit secretary in behavioral medicine at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She has been with Sisters of Charity since 1952.
Marguerite d’Youville was born in Quebec in 1701.
In 1737, she founded the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity, known as the Grey Nuns.
