AUGUSTA – Gov. John Baldacci has declared Saturday, Sept. 25, the second Maine Residents Day of the season at Maine’s State Parks and Historic Sites.
“Maine residents, the real owners of our state parks, will be admitted free of charge on Sept. 25,” said Baldacci. “As another summer parks season comes to a close, we invite all Mainers to visit a nearby park, or plan a day at a park they’ve never seen. This is our way of saying thank you’ for Maine residents’ support of our state park system.”
Although some parks and historic sites have already officially closed for the season, staffs are working to provide open gates and working facilities throughout the park system for Maine Residents Day. Many state parks will remain open through mid-October. For more information, log on to www.maine.gov/doc/parks.
