AUGUSTA – Cynthia Ann Smith and Paul R. Lapointe were married in a civil ceremony on Nov. 7 at their home in Augusta.

Many family and friends attended the candlelight nuptials. Melissa Donovan was the maid of honor and Dick Tarr served as best man.

The bride is the daughter of Clifton and Wanda Smith of Lewiston. She attended Lewiston High School and graduated from Leavitt Area High School. She also graduated with honors from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in social science. She is employed as an adoption caseworker by the Department of Human Services.

The bridegroom is the son of Roland and Anita Lapointe of Vassalboro. He graduated from Cony High School and the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in zoology. He served as an officer in the Army, earning a Bronze Star medal for his service in the Gulf War. He is employed at Lapointe Lumber.

Following a honeymoon in Key West, Fla., the couple will reside with their combined six sons and one grandson in Augusta.
