LEWISTON – More than 3,200 pounds of food was collected Saturday in Lewiston as part of the nationwide Help Stamp Out Hunger drive.
The one-day event, which supports local food banks, was a huge success locally, according to Neal LaBrecque, supervisor of customer service at the Lewiston Post Office.
Food gathered in Lewiston was distributed to the Good Shepherd Food Bank. Help Stamp Out Hunger was sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers and the United States Postal Service.
About 30 Lewiston mail carriers collected canned goods and other items Saturday.
