PARIS – The Oxford Hills chapter of the Service Corps of Retired Executives has relocated to newly-renovated offices at 2 Market Square.
Herb Strauss, past chairman of the local chapter, coordinated the move from the office in the Growth Council of Oxford Hills building on Main Street. SCORE had been there eight and a half years.
The open first floor commercial space in the Market Square building, owned by Shekinah Realty, was converted into three rooms, a closet and bathroom.
“We rented one big space and made it over,” Strauss said. The building, just a stone’s throw from the Market Square intersection at East Main and Barrows Street, has a long history of commercial uses. At one time, it was operated as Fiddlehead Market.
The Oxford Hills chapter has around 30 members, not all of them working actively as counselors. Members members come from many business backgrounds and offer free counseling as well as local business seminars to existing small businesses and new business start-ups.
The Paris chapter has scheduled four workshops in May and June in Bridgton on preparing a business plan, marketing, cash flow projection and financing a small business. They will be held in the Community Center at the Armory on Depot Street from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 21 and 28, and June 4 and 11.
The Market Square office is open from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays, and may be reached at 743-0499.
