FARMINGTON – The sixth annual Healthy Beaver 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for today at 5 p.m. outside Mantor Library on the University of Maine Farmington campus. The race serves as a fund-raiser for the UMF men’s and women’s cross country teams.
Race day registration will begin at 4:15 p.m. Entry forms are available at the UMF Health and Fitness Center, Olympia Sports in Farmington, and UMF’s Dearborn Gymnasium.
Entry fee for UMF students is $5 on race day, and $7 for all non-UMF students. Checks can be made payable to UMF Athletics-Cross Country.

Staples takes honors
AUGUSTA -Taking top honors in the 2003 Maine Migratory Waterfowl Stamp Contest held recently at the Augusta Civic Center was Jeannine Staples of Topsham .
This year’s subject was the green-winged teal. Staples acrylic scene featured a male green-winged teal in spring plumage feeding on the Muddy River which flows through Topsham. It received the highest score from the panel of seven judges.
“I wanted to keep it simple,” said Staples.
Staples has been honored as the Maine Migratory Waterfowl Stamp on five other occasions. She received a cash award of $1,000 and a sheet of 10 stamps with her design on them.
