1922 – 2003

SOUTH PARIS – Warren Morgan Powers, 81, of Bear River Road, Newry, died Sunday, April 13, at the Maine Veterans Home.

He was born in Newry on Feb. 21, 1922, the son of Harry R. and Cora E. Burgess Powers. He attended Newry schools and had worked at the Rumford Paper Mill. He then went to work for the Maine State Highway Department and retired from there as a foreman. He then worked at Western Maine Supply in Bethel.

He served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and the Newry Snowmobile Club. He also served as a constable in Newry. He married Ida May Larmore who died in 1984. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Rexford and Bernard.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Lee Powers of Norway and Tim Powers of Newry; two daughters, Ileen May Powers-Roberts of Leesburg, Va., and Susan Clara Leeson of Binghamton, NY; a brother, Mervin Powers of Florida; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
