Three of the new Lewiston police officers are veterans of the Rumford department.

LEWISTON – Five new police officers are joining the force and three of them already have patrol experience in Rumford.

The five new Lewiston cops are expected to begin working beats in the city once they have completed field training with experienced officers.

The newly hired officers are:

• Brian Beauparlant, 22, who is attending the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. A lifelong resident of Auburn, he graduated from Edward Little High School. He previously worked for Dead River Oil Co. and is currently enrolled at the University of Maine, Augusta in the Criminal Justice Program.

• Keith Caouette, 21, who also is attending the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. He is a lifelong resident of Lewiston and a graduate from Lewiston High School. He previously worked at Bates College and is currently enrolled at the University of Maine, Augusta in the Criminal Justice Program.

• Hart L. Daley, 37, a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy who worked for the Rumford Police Department for 10 years. He graduated from Dirigo High School in 1983 and is currently working towards an associate’s degree at Southern Maine Technical College. Daley is an instructor in defense tactics and firearms. He is also a licensed emergency medical technician. He is married and has three children. He enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his family.

• Corey Jacques, 25, a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy who worked for the Rumford Police Department for three years. He graduated from Mountain Valley High School in 1996 and is working towards an associate’s degree. He is married and enjoys spending time with his family.

• Donald B. McKeen, 35, a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy who worked for the Rumford Police Department for 15 years. He graduated from Dirigo High School in 1985 and from Southern Maine Technical College in 1989 with an associate’s degree in criminal justice. McKeen is an instructor in emergency vehicle operation and control, and is certified in accident reconstruction. He is married and has two children. He enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his family.
