1918 – 2003
BRIDGTON-Althea L. Sawyer, 84, of Silver Pines Apartments, died April 4, at the Bridgton Hospital.
Born July 30, 1918 in Fryeburg, where she was a liifelong resident and a 1936 graduate of Fryeburg Academy. She was the daughter of the late Ida Ela and Walter E. Lord Sr.
She was a housekeeper for several local families, and also worked for 20 years at the Red Jacket Motel.
She married Everett I. Sawyer Oct. 22, 1938, who died in 1998.
She was a member of the Fryeburg Church of New Jerusalem, Womans Alliance, Historical Society, Saco Valley Garden Club and a 56-year member of the St. Nick Christmas Club. She enjoed knitting, reading and crafts.
She is survived by one daughter, Loretta Andrews of Stoneham; three grandchildren, Everett and Wayne Andrews and Darlene Dunn; and five great-granddaughers, Crystal and Nicole Dunn, and Jennifer, Heidi and Lori Johnson.
She was predeceased by a brother, Walter E. Lord Jr.; and two sisters, Anita Eldridge and her twin, Alta Quincy.
