TURNER – All top 4 seeds prevailed as the post-season tournament began Sunday in the Leavitt Area Men’s Basketball League.
No. 1 Ben Alpren beat No. 8 Pepsi Nets 114-92 as Dean Boudreau poured in 29 points. Jim Collins netted 26 for the Nets.
No. 2 Dubord Realty got 19 points from Aaron St. Pierre in trimming No. 7 Shooters 94-74. Matt Beckim scored 16 in a losing effort.
No. 3 Ruff Riders rolled past No. 6 Thatcher’s 97-74 as James Whirley collected 33. Zebb Lalemand led Thatcher’s with 20.
No. 4 Gemini Nutrition defeated No. 5 Sturtevant & Ham Insurance as Sherwin McKenzie knocked down 17 points. Sam Smith netted 20 for S&H.
Semifinals will be played Sunday at Leavitt Area High School, as follows: 5 p.m., Ben Alpren vs Ruff Riders (Gemini works); 6:30, Gemini vs Dubord (Winner of game 1 works).
AAU tourney set
GORHAM – Maine Hoops Basketball Club is announcing that there will be AAU opportunities for Third-Grade (9-under) and Fourth-Grade (10-under) teams at this year’s state tournament to be held April 26-27 and May 3-4 in the Portland araea.
Maine and New Hampshire teams will compete against each other. There will also be an Open Invitational Tournament for these two age groups, April 12-13.
