100 Years Ago: 1923

At the weekly luncheon of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotarians at the Auburn Y. M, C. A., Friday noon, Daniel Sulivan, district governor, will be the speaker, according to an announcement yesterday.

50 Years Ago: 1973

An antique weathervane, dating back to the 1870’s, is being put on display in the main hallway entrance at Lewiston’s new Central Fire Station. One of three of its kind left in the country, the relic was installed on top of the old Central Station at Ash and Bates streets when that building was completed in 1874, and was possibly handcrafted somewhere in Massachusetts, according to Fire Chief Reginald A. Doucette.

25 Years Ago: 1998

The Maine Maritime Museum will lead a trip down the Kennebec River to visit Seguin Island, site of Maine’s second oldest lighthouse, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It will be narrated by historian Bud Warren.
