Jayne A. (O’Leary) Witas

LEWISTON – Jayne A. (O’Leary) Witas, 71, of Lewiston, passed away on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023 at Central Maine Medical Center. She was the wife of David M. Witas.

She was born in Rumford on Oct. 15, 1951, a daughter of the late Donald and Marilyn (Brown) O’Leary. She grew up in Mexico and attended local area schools, graduating from Mexico High School.

She started her banking career as a drive through teller for People’s Heritage Bank, in Lewiston and retired as the Vice President of Loan Operations for the now named TD Bank.

In her spare time Jayne could be found camping at their campground at Hemlock Campground in Poland. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed shopping and the occasional gambling trips.

Besides her husband of 55 years, she is survived by her three children, David M. Witas Jr. of Lewiston, Dawn Glover-Witas and her husband Demitrus of Lewiston and Jessica Johnson and her husband Jeff of Louisville, Ky. She also leaves her four grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Jared and Christopher as well as her three siblings, Donna Martin and her husband Lou of Mechanic Falls, Thomas O’Leary and his wife Julie of Crestview, Fla. and Melissa O’Leary and her partner Tim Bouchard of Turner; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Timothy O’Leary and Donald O’Leary Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday Sept. 5, from 4-7 p.m. at The Fortin Group Funeral Home, 70 Horton St., Lewiston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 1080 Lisbon St., Lewiston. Burial at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn will be private.
