The Franco-American Education Foundation has awarded $49,500 in scholarship funds to the following graduates from Lewiston, Auburn, and surrounding area high schools, according to a news release from Jeannine Tardif, foundation trustee.

Lewiston High School: Adam Bilodeau, Audrey Bilodeau, Emily Bilodeau, Molly Jean Chicoine, Benjamin Cloutier, Hannah Dube, Rylee Dufour, Gabrielle Gladu, Briana Letourneau, Alyssa Marcoux, Elissa Nadeau, Julia Irene Perkins and Emily Robert.

St. Dominic Academy: Miles Frenette and Noah Girardin.

Edward Little High School: Madelaine Dubois, Andrew Fournier, Clara Lamontagne, Amanda Raymond and Breya Whitman.

Leavitt Area High School: Jalee Boucher, Lily Chabot, Emma Couturier and Bailey Michaud.

Lisbon High School: Maria Levesque.

Poland Region High School: Emma Moreau.

North Yarmouth Academy: Anna Belleu.

In addition, the foundation has awarded $210,750 to students presently attending college in their sophomore, junior and senior years.

Initially funded by a gift from Georgianna and Lucien Martin, the foundation was created by Attorney Robert Couturier to provide scholarship assistance to area high school graduates of Franco-American heritage to help them further their studies at colleges, universities and vocational schools.

The members of the Board of Trustees for the foundation congratulate all recipients and wish them continued success in their studies.
