Tonight’s debate in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District race will be a Q&A session with independent candidate Tiffany Bond.
U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, a Democrat, and Bond had agreed to the debate but Bruce Poliquin did not. Golden’s insistence that each candidate be present would mean that unless Poliquin changes his mind and opts to participate at the last minute, only Bond would remain.
The first debate with all three candidates is scheduled to take place 7 p.m. Tuesday on NewsCenter Maine. The second and perhaps final showdown is slated for 7 p.m. Oct. 5, on WAGM of Presque Isle and WABI of Bangor.
Tonight’s debate is sponsored by Maine Public, Portland Press Herald and the Sun Journal.
