LISBON — An old, corroded grenade was found Monday evening by a resident digging near a tree stump at 2 Spring St., Lisbon police Sgt. Jason St. Pierre said.
A team from the state police Bomb/Explosives Unit determined it was not live, he said.
Lisbon Police and Fire Departments responded to the 911 call and secured the area until state police arrived.
The mission of the unit is to investigate, disable and dispose of hazardous explosive devices, whether deteriorated, homemade, military ordnance or suspicious packages, Shannon Moss, public information officer for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said.
