LISBON — Buckfield took control early and rolled to a 15-9 softball win over Lisbon in five soggy innings Thursday.
The Bucks (5-7) put seven runs on the board in the top of the first inning, then added at least one run in each of the next four frames.
Addison Stevens-Belanger paced Buckfield’s offense with two hits, including a triple, two runs and three RBIs, while Emma Stevens-Belanger scored three times and drew three walks. Abigail Prokey and Cora Brewster also tallied a pair of hits apiece, and Carmen Crockett and Kayden Haylock (double) each had a hit and drove in two runs.
Lisbon (2-7) tried to battle back with a few big innings. The Greyhounds scored four runs in the bottom of the second, cutting the deficit to 8-4. They entered the bottom of the fifth trailing 15-4, then plated five runs in the frame.
Lisbon finished with only three hits — singles by Brooke Norman, Emily Libby and Alivia Field — but drew 10 walks. Sophie Maloy walked three times and scored twice. Field, Maria Levesque (two walks) and Marina Davis also scored two runs apiece. Davis and Elle Burkhardt drove in two runs.
Crockett earned the win from the circle for Buckfield, striking out five in 4 2/3 innings. Lisbon starter Erica Hill struck out four batters.
GIRLS LACROSSE
MT. BLUE 11, MCI/NOKOMIS 1: Talia Kidder and Eryn Parlin scored four goals apiece as the Cougars (5-3) poured on the scoring on the road against MCI/Nokomis (0-7) in Newport.
Chloe Roberts added a goal and two assists, and Maya Kellett and Emma Dunn scored single goals to round out the scoring. Elle Marshall notched three assists and Alissa Butterfield also pitched in with a helper. Michelle Seaberg stopped 13 of 14 shots in the Mt. Blue goal.
Piper Hewins scored the lone MCI/Nokomis goal and Samantha Bissell made 27 saves.
MT. ARARAT 8, OXFORD HILLS 6: Madison Kinney scored four goals to lead the Eagles to a win over the Vikings in Topsham.
Lily Koslosky, Ryan Norton, Elsa Daulerio and Mallory Stuart added goals for Mt. Ararat (7-3).
Zaya Vollmar had 10 saves for Oxford Hills (5-5).
