BETHEL — The Telstar Varsity Rebels softball team stretched their winning streak to four games with back-to-back 9-8 victories over Mount Abram and Winthrop.

In a home tilt against Mount Abram, the Rebels scored four runs in the seventh, needing them all as the Mount Abram Roadrunners mounted a furious comeback in the final frame. Makenzie Eliot led the Rebels offensive attack by driving in four runs with a double and a triple, going 2 for 2 at the dish.

Macie Hallett and Sarah Chase each had two hits, while Hallett stole five bases. Natasha Mason won her third game of the season, striking out five before yielding to Makenzie Eliot who stuck out three to save the victory.  Adrianna Stinchfield took the loss for the Roadrunners, despite striking out 10 Rebels.

The Rebels went on the road against the Winthrop Ramblers and withstood a seventh inning rally to prevail 9-8. Freshman Maylyn Hastings started on the mound and earned the victory for the Rebels while striking out six, before Natasha Mason came on in relief.

Makenzie Eliot who went two for four in the game came up in the fifth with bases loaded and laced a 0-1 pitch for a triple, helping the Rebels score five in the inning. Sarah Chase, Macie Hallett and Maylyn Hastings also hit safely. Payton Berry had three hits and drove in two, while Leah Kimball added two his and drove in one. Macie Hallett stole two bases, bringing her season total to 20 without being caught.

The Rebels defense was stout with the highlight being Karen Marshall’s running, shoe top catch in left with runners in scoring position. Lydia Rice, Lauryn Wood and Annabelle Rice had multiple hits for Winthrop.
