BRUNSWICK — American photographer Betty Wiley will deliver a talk for First Light Camera Club from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.Thursday, Oct. 18.

Wiley is an award-winning photographer specializing in landscapes. She offers tours, workshops, photography guidance and post processing tutorials. She will have a slideshow of some of her favorite images, many from Cape Cod where she lives.

Her talk, “Creative Processing in Lightroom,” will offer tips and techniques that go beyond basic photo editing to create a masterful, dramatic look in images. Lightroom is a comprehensive software program for organizing and processing photographs and Wiley refers to herself as a “Lightroom evangelist.”

Her techniques will cover: creating dramatic lighting affects using Lightroom tools, painting with color, the creative use of the gradient tool, replacing color, creative effects using white balance, using the range-masking feature, creating a pseudo high dynamic range effect, adding fog, and adding punch and drama to skies.

If time permits, Wiley will touch upon using Lightroom CC for mobile devices. She may also “take the round trip” from Lightroom to Photoshop and back again, showing photographers how to use two software programs to enhance images.

Wiley’s talk is free for First Light members and $10 for guests.

First Light Camera Club hosts tech nights, field trips and guest speakers from September through May, and welcomes new members. Upcoming topics include: image critiques, shooting for panoramas, photographing seascapes and landscapes, and an evening with Ben Williamson, photo editor of Down East Magazine.

First Light Camera Club meets at the Brunswick Naval Museum and Memorial Gardens, 179 Admiral Fitch Ave., Brunswick Landing.
