DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lewiston Public Library is looking for a dedicated person who is willing to drive to various locations around the Twin Cities to distribute flyers and promotions that support the library to local businesses. Two or three times a month, library staff will contact the volunteer to let them know there is a packet of flyers ready to distribute. The volunteer will come to the library to pick them up on the second floor, then visit each designated location and put up the flyers according to the instructions on the packet. Reliable transportation with proof of insurance is required, as well as a phone or email that is checked regularly. Applicants should contact Ruby Jones, Adult Services Librarian, at rjones@lewistonmaine.gov or 207-513-3004, ext. x508.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for scenic photos of Our Lady of the Lake Camp at Sabbathday Lake. Many people from the area worked there. It was a facility operated by the Catholic Charities of Portland. Please call me at 207-926-8263. Thank you.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Lisbon Area Christian Outreach (LACO) Food Pantry in Lisbon Falls is holding our semi-annual fundraiser, Food Drive/Bake Sale/Bottle Drive, for our pantry on Friday, Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. We are in need of non-perishable food items, baked goods and redeemable bottles and cans. Everything can be dropped off on Friday, Oct. 5 after 8 a.m. Food donations, baked goods, cans and bottles can be picked up by Thursday, Oct. 4 by calling Bert at 207-216-3460. Cash donations are also gratefully accepted. Make checks payable to LACO. For more information, call Bert.
LACO is an all-volunteer organization. No one gets paid. We provide food for approximately 275 to 300 families every month, feeding approximately 260 children and 465 adults each month. This is costly to us and we rely on donations. We buy a lot of our own canned goods, meat, and eggs. Last month alone we provided over 620 volunteer hours.
Thank you for your time and your help in providing and helping feed the hungry of our communities.

ANSWER: Thank you, LACO volunteers for your caring and dedication. I can’t say it enough: if you are looking to enrich your life, the way to do it is to reach out to others. Volunteer!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: For those who wish to donate their old vinyl records to a worthy cause as suggested in the Sept. 13 Sun Spots, It’s All Good, a consignment shop located at 212 Maine St. in Brunswick will take them and transform them into water.
That’s right, Cindy and Brian Neprash traveled to South Africa where they saw the shortage or complete absence of clean water at schools they visited. After researching locally accessible green technology in South Africa, the couple began collecting old record albums and using them to create whimsical, oversized flowers. The records were melted, reconfigured and bedazzled then sold to fund a new secure water purification system at a school in South Africa. Their efforts continue with the hope of installing another water system at a Universal Promise nursery school.
To find out more, visit universalpromise.org or contact Cindy directly at cindy@itsallgood.com. Flowers are for sale at the store.
