LEWISTON — Mary F. Caron, 100, passed away Friday, June 8, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion after a short illness. She was born in Canada on April 16, 1918.
Mary was married to the late Rene Caron in 1955 and had worked for 25 years at the Androscoggin Mill, and at the age of 70 went to work for the Bates Mill for seven years.
Mary was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish attending Holy Cross Church.
Mary was a simple, caring lady who enjoyed playing cards, making fudge, watching hockey, watching Hallmark Chanel movies with her boyfriend and visiting with friends and relatives. She really enjoyed visits to Canada and especially going to eat at E-Claire and Pastries.
At the age of 99 a very special great-great-niece was born. Her name is Olivia, and Mary referred to her as her baby; just looking at a picture or in person would put a smile on Mary’s face. The highlight of her life was riding on the back of her boyfriend’s Harley in July of 2017.
On April 14, she celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by friends and family.
Mary is survived by her sister, Rita Comtois of Canada; and sisters-in-law Jeannette Laberge and Lucienne Beaulieu; and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Rene, she is predeceased by four brothers, Theophane, Jean Paul, Henry and Aldee Frechette; and by one sister, Claire Frechette Fournier.
The family would like to thank all the staff at d’Youville Pavilion for their care and friendship to Mary and family. Rest in Peace Sweet Mary, We Love You!
