READFIELD — Mac Pelletier scattered five hits and three walks and also scored both runs to help St. Dom’s emerge from a Thursday pitchers’ duel with a 2-0 win over Maranacook.
Pelletier struck out five while going the distance. He also collected two of the Saints’ five hits. St. Dom’s (8-4) scored an unearned run in the first and Hunter Hughes drove in Pelletier with a single for an insurance run in the sixth.
Dan Girardin was the hard-luck loser for the Black Bears (10-2), fanning 10 while walking four and allowing one earned run. Tom Root had two hits for Maranacook.
Bangor 3, Edward Little 1
BANGOR — Zach Cowperthwaite scattered five hits and allowed just one run to help Bangor shut down Edward Little 3-1 Thursday in a battle of the top two teams in Class A North.
Zach Murray had a double and a pair of hits for the Rams (12-1), who plated a run in the third and another pair in the fifth.
Cowperthwaite allowed only a run in the sixth. Ben Cassidy led Edward Little (12-1) with three hits, including a double. Grant Hartley took the loss on the hill.
Oxford Hills 14, Cony 0
AUGUSTA — Wyatt Williamson tossed a two-hitter and Asthon Kennison lit up the stat sheet with a home run and six RBIs to pace Oxford Hills to a 14-0 win over Cony in KVAC baseball action Thursday.
The Vikings (9-2) scored at least two runs in each of the five innings played. Hunter LaBossiere and Kaden Cutler ripped doubles and added a single each in the winning effort.
Softball
Oxford Hills 7, Cony 3
AUGUSTA — Maddy Day’s two-run double in the third inning scored Ashley Childs and Madison Starbird to start the Oxford Hills offense rolling as the Vikings took down Cony 7-3 Thursday in their KVAC softball contest.
Olivia Gallan added a triple for Oxford Hills, while Kori Kahkonen and Kaisa Heikkinen added doubles to go with Day’s.
Lauren Merrill earned the win in the circle for the Vikings. Gabby McGuire suffered the loss for Cony.
Edward Little 7, Bangor 3
BANGOR — Emmy Lashua and Grace Beaudet each placed three hits and crossed the plate three times and freshman Hannah Smith scattered seven hits and allowed just three runs to lead Edward Little to a 7-3 win over Bangor in KVAC softball action Thursday.
Jordan Cummings chipped in with a hit, two sacrifices and four RBIs for the Red Eddies (8-5).
Gabby Gonzales ripped a pair of hits for Bangor. Lexi Cunningham took the loss in the circle for the Rams (4-8).
Girls’ lacrosse
Oxford Hills 14, Edward Little 8
PARIS — Maggie Hartnett led the charge with four goals and Cecelia Dieterich added three more as Oxford Hills came back from two goals down in the second half to post a 14-8 win over Edward Little in KVAC girls’ lacrosse action Thursday.
Cassidy Wall and Caroline Burns also added a pair of goals each for the Vikings (6-2), who trailed the Eddies (3-5) by a pair at the break.
Piper Norcross and Megan Steele scored four times each for EL, and Erin Anderson stopped 12 in the loss. Tiana James made seven saves to earn the win of the Vikings.
