AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library children’s calendar for May has been announced.
KIDS! Sprouts: 10:30 to 10:50 a.m. Saturdays, May 5, 12, 19 and 26, in the Children’s Room, early September through May, for a lap-sit program for babies through 36 months and their caregivers. There will be songs, nursery rhymes and dancing.
KIDS! Sweet Peas: 10:30 to 11 a.m. Mondays, May 7, 14 and 21, in the Children’s Room. Miss Heather will lead a lap-sit program for children ages 24 to 36 months and a parent. There will be stories, songs, rhythm instruments, finger plays and flannel board fun on the story quilt.
KIDS! Pre-School Story Time: 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, in the Maggie Trafton Room. The pre-school story program is for children ages 3 to 5. All will gather in the Children’s Room, then move to the program room for stories, songs and a craft.
KIDS! LEGO Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 4, in the Maggie Trafton Program Room. The club is for ages 5 and up. The library will provide the space and the Legos. Kids can attend with their ideas and imaginations. There will be small pieces that present a choking hazard and the program is not suitable for very young children. KIDS! Read to a Dog: 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in the Children’s Room. Kids can join Susan Farrell and her dog, Addie, to practice their reading skills while reading to Addie. Call the library at 207-333-6640, ext. 3, to register.
KIDS! Tinker Tuesday: 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, in the Maggie Trafton Program Room. Learn how to make slime with Corinna. All materials provided by the library. Best for kids in grades two to six.
KIDS! Wednesday Read to a Dog: 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2 and 16, in the Children’s Room. Join Luke Robinson and his therapy dog, Gunner, to practice reading skills. Call the library at 207-333-6640, ext. 3, to register.
KIDS! Saturday Stories: 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, in the Children’s Room. Local volunteer story lady, Judy D’Amour, will lead children in interactive stories, rhymes, songs, creative dramatics and a craft. This program is best for children from ages 2 to 6. All are welcome.
KIDS! CRAFTERNOON Duct Tape Fun!: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, in the Maggie Trafton Program Room. The library will provide two or three projects to make and personalize. This month it will be crafting with duct tape. The program is best for kids in grades two to six.
The “Libraries Rock” Summer Reading Program will begin in June. It will kick off with a high energy show by Mad Science of Maine, “Sounds Like Science,” at 6 p.m. Monday, June 25.
The library will be closed Monday, May 28, for the Memorial Day holiday.
