Dirigo Class of 2018 Car Show
DIXFIELD — The Dirigo High School Class of 2018 car show will be held rain or shine from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Harlow Park, Dirigo High School, 145 Weld St.
There will be trophies and prizes for first, second and third place in each category, plus Best in Show awarded at 1 p.m.
Students may bring a car to compete in the student category. Concessions will be available and there will be a 50/50 drawing at 1 p.m.
Registration will be from 8 a.m. to noon. The fee is $5 a car, which includes one driver and one passenger. General admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children under 12.
Country Jamboree in Dixfield
DIXFIELD — The Dixfield American Legion will host a Country Jamboree from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at the Legion Hall.
The kitchen will be open to purchase food.
Sons of Italy to meet
RUMFORD — The Sons Of Italy will meet at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at the lodge, Route 108.
There will be a light lunch. Guests are welcome.
Emergency medical services talk
MEXICO — The Mexico Historical Society will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at the Wills Homestead Museum.
The guest speaker is Berta Broomhall, a paramedic supervisor at Med-Care, with 25 years of experience with emergency medical services. Broomhall will demonstrate hands-only CPR and how to use a defibrillator, and will talk about the Community Paramedic Program.
The meeting will include a potluck supper.
The public is invited, and new members are always welcome.
Square dance party at Orgonon
RANGELEY — Orgonon will host a square dance party from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at the Wilhelm Reich Museum’s Conference Center, Dodge Pond Road.
Experience and reservations will not be necessary. National caller and Rangeley resident, Red Bates, will teach all the moves. Families and singles are welcome. The dress is casual. Refreshments will be served.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12. They can be purchased at the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce as well as the museum ticket office.

Church seeks auction donations
SUMNER — The West Sumner Universalist Church is seeking donations for its ticket auction, which will be held during the Whatever Sale on Saturday, Aug. 26.
It also seeks themed baskets in memory of loved ones.
There will be a food and bake sale at the event. Those wishing to cook their favorite recipe will be welcomed.
