AUGUSTA — Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has announced the winners of the 2017 Maine Migratory Waterfowl Stamp Contest.
Rebekah Lowell of Biddeford placed first; Olga Wing of Byron placed second; and Janine Folsom of Skowhegan placed third.
Artists Georgie Kanach of Gray and Michael Boardman of North Yarmouth received honorable mention.
The contest was judged on March 31 at the Maine Sportsman’s Show. There were 13 artists who submitted work to the contest.
One species of migratory waterfowl is pictured on the stamp each year. 2017 features the Common Eider.
The subject for the 2018 contest will be the Northern Pintail. Entry information for the 2018 contest will be made available on the IFW’s website.
The 2017 stamps will be available for purchase in September.
