LEWISTON — Election Day will leave many city services with reduced staffing and longer waiting times, and people are encouraged to wait for services until Wednesday, if possible, when departments will be fully staffed again.
“The city utilizes many city employees to help work at the seven polling places across the city to assist voters with election services,” City Clerk Kathy Montejo said in a news release. “As a result, services in various city departments will be slower due to limited remaining staff coverage in those departments.”
Montejo added, “Election day is the largest, single, one-day event the city coordinates for the residents, and as a result, numerous city employees are needed to help with the administration of the election.”
All city operations will be functioning on Tuesday, but with smaller staff and therefore the waiting and processing time will be longer, she said.
