It is now said that the promoters of the proposed new storage plant in Lewiston will not have the old bag mill in the Grand Trunk vicinity as that is to be torn down. A fine place in the rear of the Ernest Saunders establishment is being considered. This is on land owned by J. W. Thompson and can have both Maine Central and electric road connections. The Maine Central is putting a six hundred foot front siding to this place and this spur track would be admirable for this purpose. A cold storage plant will prove a great benefit to Lewiston.

The new Central Maine Vocational-Technical Institute on Turner Street is expected to be in use by the first of the new year. Dec. 15 has been set as a target date for completion of the $448,000 building, and equipment will be moved from the temporary CMVTI facilities at the Buick Building in Lewiston to the permanent site near Lake Auburn during the Christmas vacation. Interior finishing work is currently being done at the new school, and it is reported most of the building will be ready by the end of the year.

James and Suzanne O’Sullivan of 28 Beacon Ave., Auburn, were surprised to see their son in a Sun-Journal front-page photo Friday morning, especially since they haven’t seen him since late August. Brian O’Sullivan, 20, was one of several soldiers pictured with President Bush, who was visiting troops in Saudi Arabia over the Thanksgiving holiday. In Friday’s paper, he is in the second row, far right, wearing a colorful watchband. His arm is partially hiding his face, but not enough to fool his parents. They recognized him right away. His father said he spoke briefly with his son by telephone last week. O’Sullivan has sent his son a copy of the photo as well as copies of the Sun-Journal so he can keep up with the local news. The younger O’Sullivan graduated from Edward Little High School in 1983 and is stationed somewhere in Saudi Arabia with the 82nd Airborne Division.
