Please, not again. The last time Lewiston officials wanted to improve the downtown it was a complete disaster and residents are still paying for it — plastic awnings over sidewalks that were so ugly they were taken down within a few years — taxpayer money gone with no accountability.

Sidewalks that are costing a lot more to maintain than they used to; tax money gone with no accountability; cost of snow plowing downtown costing more because of the stupid configuration of sidewalks. Tax money gone with no accountability.

Parking has been reduced to a point of being nearly non-existent (really good for downtown business).

Now, city officials are going to change things again, making things even worse than they are.

If you think the marker lines on Pine Street are stupid, wait until you hear what is going to happen next. The reasoning for the lines on Pine Street was that if someone opened a car door there would be enough room to not get hit.

I am pretty sure there is more then one street in Lewiston. It is time that somebody is held accountable for a lot of tax money being spent on complete foolishness.
