RUMFORD — A local Relay For Life team comprised of three high school students is hosting a black light dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, May 23, at 49 Franklin to raise money.

The team, called Michael’s Angels, started around 15 years ago, member Kaitlynn York said. It was created in memory of her uncle, she said.

The other team members are Mackenzie Houghton and Elizabeth Jasper.

“Everyone on the team has been affected in some way by cancer,” York said. “We’re just trying to do something to help.”

York said the dance is the first team fundraiser she and the others have held.

“A black light dance is basically like a regular dance, except the lights used are a lot different,” York said. “There are black lights and other types of lights that make everything glow different.”

York said that the dance is for high school and first-year college students only. Tickets are $6 per person and $10 for a couple.
