The Portland Pirates ended their road portion of the schedule Saturday night with a 4-0 loss to rival Manchester Monarchs.

Linden Vey potted his 13th and 14th goals of the season for Manchester. The 2009 fourth-round draft pick of the Los Angles Kings is third on Manchester with 47 points.

He opened up the scoring 7:22 of the first period as he lit the lamp on the power play. The play was set up by Vincent LoVerde and Andrew Bodnarchuk.

LoVerde had two other assists on the night as he would set up Vey’s second goal near the midway mark of the the second period. Bodnarchuk also picked up his second assist on Vey’s power-play goal at the 9:11 mark of the middle period.

LoVerde capped off his third assist on Jordan Weal’s 23rd goal of the season with 3:19 remaining in the second period. Brian O’Neill also had an assist on the goal.

Manchester picked up its third power-play marker of the game as Brayden McNabb notched his 10th goal of the season. McNabb, who was acquired by Los Angeles from the Buffalo Sabres at the NHL deadline and assigned to Manchester, has three goals and four assists in 12 games since joining the Monarchs. Nick Shore and Zach O’Brien were credited with the assists.

Manchester was 3-for-7 with the man advantage, while Portland was scoreless on four chances.

Jean-Francois Berube stopped all 23 shots he saw for the shutout, while Louis Domingue made 35 saves in the losing effort.
