CARIBOU — A Stockholm man is being held on $10,000 bail following his arrest earlier this month on charges of sexually abusing a child, police said.
Benjamin Rossignol, 21, was taken into custody at his home in Stockholm, about 20 miles north of Caribou, on Nov. 8, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Rossignol’s victim was a 1-month-old girl, according to McCausland.
Investigators discovered that Rossignol took graphic photos of the baby and posted them on the Internet, McCausland said.
The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit was contacted and Rossignol was subsequently arrested, McCausland said. He was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, dissemination of sexually explicit material, unlawful sexual contact and possession of sexually explicit materials.
A judge ordered him held at the Aroostook County Jail on $10,000 bail during his first court appearance last week. Should Rossignol be able to post bail, he will not be allowed to have any unsupervised contact with children under age 16.
Rossignol’s next court date is Feb. 18.
