NEW GLOUCESTER — A local man was arrested Tuesday and charged with chasing another man while armed with a shotgun on Jennie Lane, police said.

Gregory D. Mathias, 31, of 50 Jennie Lane is being held at Cumberland County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail on charges of felony criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and terrorizing. He is scheduled to appear Friday in Cumberland County Court in Portland.

Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by Maine State Police, responded shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a man chasing another man with a shotgun, according to a release.

Before police arrived at the scene, Mathias returned to his home. After police set up a perimeter, Mathias and other occupants were ordered out of his house.
