Mobile Health Unit outreach
FARMINGTON — The Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County has announced its August schedule for Mobile Health Unit outreach events. Staff will be offering services such as blood pressure and cholesterol checks; body composition analysis; information on cancer prevention, nutrition, physical activity and tobacco; one-on-one health counseling; and information and assistance on the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program and other health assistance programs.
The Mobile Health Unit will be offering health screenings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the Blueberry Festival in Wilton; and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following dates and locations: Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Tranten’s, Farmington; Friday, Aug. 9, at IGA, Rangeley; Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Tranten’s, Kingfield; Friday, Aug. 16, at Edmunds Market, Phillips; Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Tranten’s, Farmington; Friday, Aug. 23, at Town Office, Eustis; and Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Tranten’s, Kingfield.
All services are offered free thanks to funding from Avon Foundation, Healthy Maine Partnership, Helen & George Ladd Foundation, Maine Community Foundation, United Way of the Tri-Valley Area and U.S. CDC Community Transformation Grant.

Movie, bear program at Mt. Blue
WELD — Mount Blue State Park will show the movie, “Out of the Wilderness,” at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the amphitheater.
Black bears will be the subject of exploration with wildlife biologist Scott Lindsey at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3.
Giant yard sale at Wilton church
WILTON — The Wilton United Methodist Church will hold a giant yard sale on Friday, Aug. 2, as part of the annual Wilton Blueberry Festival. Thousands of items from many, many people will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Also, a variety of whoopee pies, including blueberry, chocolate, pumpkin and gluten-free, along with several kinds of muffins, coffee and other beverages will be available.
On Saturday, a luncheon of lobster rolls, meatball subs and other sandwiches, along with blueberry pie, cake and other blueberry desserts will be served on the church’s lawn from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A quilt show will be on display in the church’s sanctuary.
Community breakfast Aug. 7
RANGELEY — The next Ladies/Community Breakfast will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the “Camp Do What You Wanna” outdoor cafe. They are now serving a complete breakfast menu.

College planning workshop set
WILTON — The Maine Educational Opportunity Center will host a free workshop, “Essentials of College Planning,” for adults ages 19 and up at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Wilton Career Center, 865 U.S. Route 2E.
The starting point for all MEOC participants is this free interactive workshop that outlines the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career planning and study skills.
The workshop lasts approximately two to three hours. Pre-registration is required.
All MEOC services are free and include GED/SAT preparation, college planning, referrals/advocacy, career advising, financial aid advising, college admissions process and application fee waivers for qualified adults.

Wilton Class of 1957 reunion
WILTON — The Wilton Academy Class of 1957 will have their reunion on Sunday, Aug. 11, at Kineowatha Park.
Those attending should bring a picnic lunch and plan to spend the day with old friends and their spouses.
In case of rain, the reunion will be held at the Girl Scout Building.
