NORWAY — Shirli Allen Heald, music director at the Second Congregational Church, UCC of Norway, has been busy recruiting outstanding musicians from near and far for summer worship music.

She said, “It is a very interesting part of my job. I can arrange unique and wonderful music for services and I am able to interact with a variety of talented vocal and instrumental musicians from outside and within our congregation.”

The summer music program begins Sunday, July 7, at the 9 a.m. service and continues through Aug. 25.

Talented local performer, Ed Baldridge, of West Paris will be providing piano selections each week.

The week of July 7, Kelsey Franklin of Oxford, known to local audiences by her many singing roles in OHMPAA and Community Musical productions, will be joining Megan Wood Arbour, of Columbus, Ohio, in several sacred duets.

The Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St., invites all to worship, study and fellowship. The home of the third Friday free supper, the Second Congregational is now also the Norway site for the Maine Hunger Initiative, where children age 3-18 years receive free lunch, Monday through Friday.

For more information about 9 a.m. summer services and other church programs, call the church office at 743-2290. Rev. Anita White and Rev. Dick Bennett are the interim ministers. The church is handicap accessible and nursery care is provided during worship services.
