DIXFIELD — Residents of RSU 10 will go to the polls Tuesday to vote on a $36.18 million budget that was approved at a districtwide meeting last month.

“I would encourage people to get out and vote and remember that the impact to the 2013-14 proposed budget on the towns is $800,000 less than the present budget,” Superintendent Tom Ward said in an email.

The budget is up 2.95 percent from the current year.

Voters will also decide whether to continue the two-part budget adoption process for another three years.

Ward said property valuations declined in Rumford, Roxbury, Peru, Mexico, Hartford, Dixfield and Canton, while they increased in Buckfield, Byron, Carthage, Hanover and Sumner.

School tax assessments are determined by a combination of number of students sent to the district and state valuation of the town.
