La Leche League meeting May 8

AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to a La Leche League meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.

This month’s discussion will focus on “The Advantages of Breastfeeding For Mother and Baby.” Pregnancy is an ideal time to begin attending meetings, and mothers find continued attendance provides support throughout their breastfeeding experience. All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion.

American Legion events for May

AUBURN — The following events will take place in May at American Legion William J. Rogers Post 153, 71 South Main St.

There will be oldies music and dance with DJ Cheryl at 7 p.m. Friday, May 10.

On Fridays, May 17, 24 and 31, there will be a dance with DJ Roger P. at 7 p.m.

Karaoke and dance with DJ Jean Louis will take place at 8 p.m. Saturdays, May 11, 18, 25 and June 1.

Community Day in Wales May 11

WALES — Wales Community Day will be held Saturday, May 11, starting at 9 a.m. with a parade from the Town Office on Centre Road to the former Wales Central School.

The celebration will continue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wales Presbyterian Church Youth Center.

There will be games, live music, free hot dogs and soda, and business exhibits. Everyone is welcome.

Program on Life Entrepreneurship

AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer “Lead Your Way: Life Entrepreneurship Certificate Program.” The first session of the 10-hour program will be held Thursday, May 16, and the second session Friday, May 31.

Facilitated by psychologist Amy Wood, author of the award-winning book “Life Your Way,” the program cuts through the clutter of quick-fix personal and professional growth hype and teaches a realistic program for thriving in all areas of importance. The intention is to give ambitious adults an edge on enhancing performance, prosperity and peace of mind in a world where the rules of achievement have clearly changed.

Students will learn the five mistakes most people make when trying to simplify life and reduce stress. The cost is $139 and participants will receive a copy of Dr. Wood’s book and are eligible to receive one CEU.

Senior Citizens Cribbage League

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on May 2 were: first, Dolly Jones and Dick Dennis; second, Norm Bissonnette and Ron Hynes; third, Lorraine Fillion and Bob Cielinski; fourth, Robert Oliver and Gary David; fifth, Vicki Thayer Adams and Ed Hinkley.

This concludes league play. Non-league play will continue throughout the summer every Thursday at 9 a.m. sharp at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Central Avenue. League will resume on Thursday, Sept. 5. All are welcome.
