CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the Carrabassett Valley Library concerning a request from Kerry Audit for the town to apply for up to $300,000 to assist in developing his proposed new family entertainment center, Sugarbowl.
The proposed facility would be off the Sugarloaf Access Road and consist of 10 bowling lanes, professional golf simulator, redemption ticket game room, sports bar and restaurant.
If approved, the Economic Development Block Grant would be used exclusively for construction of the bowling lanes and accessories. As part of the grant application, selectmen must hold a public hearing and voters must authorize the board to accept the grant, if awarded, and make assurances and implement the grant program.
Following the public hearing, the next step is for selectmen to consider placing an article in the annual town meeting warrant to determine if voters wish to authorize the board to accept the grant. The annual town meeting will be held March 13.
