Woodstock Hist. Society meeting
WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Historical Society will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Town Complex.
As part of the preparation for the town’s bicentennial in 2015 Larry Bonney will present a program on the early years of the town, before it was incorporated as the town of Woodstock in 1815.
Light refreshments will follow.
Bridge Club winners named
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners on Feb. 4 at the Lewiston Armory were as follows: first, Cynthia and Bill Clifford; second, Dick Allen and Pete Cummings; third, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.
Tuesday winners were: first, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; second, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; third, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin.
Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed.

Free supper at SCC on Feb. 15
NORWAY — Second Congregational Church will hold a free home-cooked meal from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15. This month features a hearty beef stew with biscuits, macaroni and cheese and desserts by Bruce.
Second Congregational Church is on the corner of Paris and Main streets. The monthly suppers offer those in the community a chance to get out and meet new people as well as visit with friends and neighbors.

Dinner to aid softball teams
OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Softball Teams (Farm League and Little League) will hold a fundraiser Italian dinner on Friday, Feb. 15, at the Otisfield Community Hall, Route 121. Seatings will be from 5 to 6 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. with possible entertainment to follow.
The menu will include lasagna, spaghetti and gluten-free choices. Donations will be gratefully accepted and will be used for uniforms, sweatshirts, equipment and updates to the snack shack. Call Amy at 627-4319 with questions.
Valentine’s dinner Feb. 15
SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will hold the third annual Valentine’s Dinner on Friday, Feb. 15. Diners will be seated at small tables for up to four with candlelight and soft music.
They will have a choice of French onion or chicken noodle soup for an entree. The main dish will be either baked turkey or pork loin with mashed potatoes, stuffing, steamed vegetables, rolls and three choices of pie. Orders will be taken and served by waiters.
Seatings will be at 5:30 and 7 p.m. For reservations call Peggy at 388-2074. Accommodations can be made for a party of more than four.
Valentine’s dance at Legion hall
MECHANIC FALLS — A Valentine’s dance featuring Cold Blue Steel will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Mechanic Falls American Legion Post 150.
Cost is $5 per person. Social hour with snacks included will begin at 7.
Sunday River snowshoe walk
NEWRY — As part of the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend, the Mahoosuc Land Trust and the Western Maine Senior College will feature a guided snowshoe trek in the Sunday River Valley on Saturday, Feb. 16.
A gentle snowshoe walk will feature naturalist Rick Churchill’s observations of the winter landscape. Meet at the Sunday River Inn at 10 a.m. Parking is across the street and snowshoe rentals are available. Bring water, a snack and a camera. For more information, call 824-3806.
Chili/chowder challenge
OXFORD — Oxford Rec Center’s Community Day and Chili/Chowder Challenge will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. There will be fun, games, contests and music provided by DJ Don.
Cooks are invited to bring a crock pot of their best chili and/or chowder to compete for best chili and chowder in Oxford.

Valentine’s party at Paris library
PARIS — Area children are invited to the Paris Public Library’s Valentine’s Party from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. Participants will enjoy Valentine’s Day stories, crafts and decorate their own holiday cookies. All ages are welcome and the program is free.
