Snowmobile club meeting

MEXICO — The Mexico Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club will have its first meeting of the season at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Town Hall, downstairs. All are welcome.

The Trail Blazers meet on the first and third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m.

‘Green Church’ public supper

MEXICO — A public supper will be served at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Mexico Congregational Church, UCC (the “Green Church”).

It will be a harvest supper, with a menu of corned beef, ham, potatoes, turnip, carrots, beets, and cabbage and homemade pies. The price for adults is $8 and for children under 12, $3. Take-outs will be available after 5:30; call 364-8603.

Burnt Meadow DAR to meet

LISBON FALLS – The Burnt Meadow Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at the home of Jayne Bickford on Sept. 8 at 1:30 p.m.

Bickford will present a brief program on the Constitution with all members reciting the Preamble to celebrate Constitution Week, Sept. 17-23.

Virginia Spiller, the state regent, will be the guest speaker for the afternoon.

Following the meeting there will be light refreshments.

Members are reminded that the annual State Fall Conference with the theme of country fairs will be held at the Ramada Inn in Saco on Sept. 29 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Blacksmith, spinners demo

NEW GLOUCESTER — Tim Greene, professional blacksmith, and the R & R Spinners will be showing their talents on Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26. Free and open to the public.

Shaker book workshop

NEW GLOUCESTER — Participants using basic gel printing techniques will make an accordion and flag book from Shaker herbs creating beautiful floral images at a workshop to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26. Senior citizen breakfast

RUMFORD — The Rumford Senior Citizens will have a breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. The public is welcome.

Genealogy topic: Bubiers

FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogical Society, will meet at the Farmington Public Library at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. The program, about one of the early residents of Rangeley, will be presented by Shirley Adams. In the 1800s, the Bubier family was warned out of the Lewiston area and moved to the Rangeley area. This topic maybe of interest to Bubier descendants.

Cushing yard sale

WILTON — A yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Cushing School Gymnasium. It will be held rain or shine.

Donations to the yard sale are appreciated. All proceeds benefit the Academy Hill School Dempsey Challenge Team.

VFW Ladies public supper

HARRISON — The VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 9328 is offering a public supper from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Harrison VFW on the Waterford Road, Route 35. The menu includes homemade baked beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, casseroles, salads, pies and beverages. This supper is a fundraiser for the Ladies Auxiliary. Donations appreciated.

First fall free dinner

OTISFIELD — The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, 231 Rayville Road, off Route 121, will host the first fall free community dinner on Saturday, Sept. 8, with seating for 36 people at the first sitting at 5 p.m. and 36 people at the second sitting at 6.

The menu includes barbecue chicken, vegetables and salads, and desserts. First come, first served. Donations are welcome and will be used for Adult Christian Education.

Deering turkey dinner

PARIS — A roast turkey dinner with all the fixings and homemade pies will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Deering Memorial Methodist Church, Main and Church streets.

Swingin’ Bears dance Sept. 8

PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will have Joseph Fabian calling mainstream and plus levels for the square dancing from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, 100 Pine St.

Bernie Porter will cue for the round dancing.

Scholarship bottle drive

SUMNER — The Sumner Scholarship Committee will hold a bottle drive Saturday, Sept. 8. Volunteers will go door to door to pick up returnable bottles and cans donated for the Sumner Scholarship Fund.

Donations may be left in a trash bag near one’s mailbox or brought to the Sumner Town Office anytime.

Bean hole supper Sept. 8

SUMNER — A bean hole bean supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Congregational Church of East Sumner, Route 219.

Fall Shoots dates set

PARIS — The Norway-Paris Fish and Game association has set the dates for the annual Fall Shoots. The dates are Sept. 9, 16 and 23. The rain date is Sept. 30. The club range at 744 Buckfield Road, Route 117, in South Paris will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The club offers voice activated trap and running deer shoots for all ages. There are prizes for each round and the overall winners in all categories will receive trophies at the Oct. 17 club meeting. The winners of the 10-gun raffle will be drawn at the Sept. 23 shoot. There will be some raffle tickets for sale at the shoots.

12-step group to start Sept. 10

Agri Day at Oxford Fair

OXFORD — The annual Agriculture & Conservation Day at Oxford County Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. This event is open to all K-4th grade students in Oxford County.
