‘Whatever Sale’ is Aug. 18
SUMNER — A “Whatever Sale” will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at West Sumner Universalist Church, Main Street.
There will be new and used items, a 50/50 raffle, Rada cutlery knives and baked goods. A spareribs cook-off between Mike and Marc will take place at noon.
Tables are for rent for $10 each. Call Pauline Kirschner at 388-2020.
Finnish group summer social
WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will hold their summer social from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.
Society pot luck
WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society will meet for a pot luck supper at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, with the regular meeting following at 7 p.m.
A small barbecue is available if the weather is good. Calendar sales will be discussed at the meeting.

American Legion to meet Aug. 21
PARIS — The American Legion Fifth District Department of Maine will hold its first meeting of the new membership year Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the Western Maine Veterans Home, High Street.
The meeting will begin with a barbecue for residents and Legion family members at 5 p.m. sponsored by West Paris Post 151.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the activity room.
Final summer story time
PARIS — The Paris Public Library invites children of all ages and their caregivers to one last afternoon story time before school vacation ends. Listen to silly stories about cows, pigs and sheep on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 1 p.m. Story time will be followed with picture bingo played with marshmallows. All ages welcome.
