BETHEL — Jon Clarke tripled home the tying run in the sixth inning and scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice to lift Bethel/Locke Mills to a 3-2 victory in Game 1 and a split of an American Legion doubleheader against Rogers Post of Auburn on Saturday.
Rogers came back with an eight-run uprising in the third inning in the night cap for a 12-5 triumph.
Ben Field fired a three-hitter for Bethel (7-5) in the opener, striking out 11 batters. The only runs he allowed came on a two-run home run by Logan Rossignol in the second inning. Rossignol was the losing pitcher in relief of Cprey Moholland.
Game 2 saw Rogers open up an 11-0 lead by the fourth inning. Rogers took advantage of three errors in the decisive eight-run third inning. Ryan Arnold had a two-run double in the inning and also added a triple.
Dan Whitney had three of Bethel’s five hits. Sean Ford was the winning pitcher.
Gayton sweeps Mechanic Falls
POLAND — Gayton pounded out 37 hits, including six home runs, to crush Mechanic Falls, 22-0 and 25-1, in a Zone 3 doubleheader.
Luke Cote led the 13-hit attack in the first game with four hits, including a double and a triple, and five runs scored. Alex Parker and Mekae Hyde homered and drove in three runs apeice. Chris Whitney also had three RBI.
Jeff Keene started for Gayton, faced nine batters and struck out all nine.
The offensive barrage intensified in Game 2. Hyde clubbed four hits, including his second home run of the day. Chris Madden also had four hits, including two doubles, while Keene added three hits and Nate Berube two hits.
Corbin Hyde, Scott Ouellette and Mat Gordon also went deep for Gayton (12-0).
Matt Bowen picked up the win on the mound, fanning nine while walking one, hitting two batters and yielding four hits in five innings.
Jed Quint led Mechanic Falls (1-11) with a pair of hits, while Shane Waters knocked in the only run with a sacrifice fly.

Andy Valley 2
TURNER — Adam Szklany belted a three-run homer and collected four hits to lead Windham to an 18-2 victory over Andy Valley in Zone 3 action.
Drew Gagnon had a pair of hits for Windham (6-2). Ben Noble allowed just four hits while walking two and fanning five to pick up the complete game win.
Brandon McDonald and Jason Fisher each had a double for Andy Valley (2-12), which won the first game of the scheduled doubleheader by forfeit due to Windham having only eight players.
