BRUNSWICK — Bethel/Locke Mills jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning and held off Brunswick for a 6-3 victory in an American Legion baseball opener Thursday.
Jeb Clarke got the win for Bethel/Locke Mills before being relieved by Ben Fields in the fifth inning. Clarke also had two hits and teammate Drew Wilson also had two.
For Brunswick, Chris Bruno belted out a pair of doubles and drove in a run. Bethel used nine hits to subdue Brunswick, which committed four errors.
Bessey Motors 5, Andy Valley 4
TURNER — Bessey Motors came in to score four times in the fifth inning to erase a two-run deficit and held on for a 5-4 season-opening victory over Andy Valley in Zone 3 American Legion baseball action Thursday.
Eric Henderson earned the win in relief of Brandon Campbell for Bessey, which also got a double from catcher Dan Place to pace the offense.
Ben Keene led the Andy Valley offense with a pair of hits, while James McLamb took the loss on the mound.
