BETHEL — The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said they had recaptured a 31-year-old man who escaped a deputy after being handcuffed and charged with OUI and other traffic violations early Wednesday morning.
Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant said officers from his department’s criminal investigation division arrested Macy Jon Blaisdell of Bethel at a residence on Lone Pine Road in Newry at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Blaisdell had been taken into custody earlier in the day after failing a blood alcohol test administered by the arresting officer, Deputy Robert Ryder.
Blaisdell was stopped on the Flat Road, which is off Route 2, in West Bethel just after 1 a.m.
Ryder was interviewing other occupants of Blaisdell’s car when he escaped from Ryder’s police cruiser. He and other deputies then launched a search for Blaisdell including the use of a tracking dog but were unable to locate him.
Blaisdell, was transported to the Oxford County Jail and will now face an escape charge in addition to the other violations, Gallant said.
Gallant said Blaisdell was no longer handcuffed at the time of his second arrest Wednesday and that he did not resist police.
Blaisdell was previously arrested in April on a charge of domestic assault.
